Wildcat women's soccer wins twice on road, Hofstetter collects NSIC goalkeeper award

A clean sheet continued through two NSIC road matches for the Wayne State College women's soccer program.

WSC began the weekend with a 1-0 victory at Minnesota Crookston on Sept. 19 and followed with a 4-0 win at MSU Moorhead on Sept. 21.

The Wildcats are now 3-0-2 (2-0 NSIC).

Thanks to another shutout, Alexa Hofstetter was tabbed NSIC Goalkeeper of the Week.

She was credited with three saves against the Golden Eagles and recorded six saves in just over 83 minutes playing time against the Dragons.

In the NSIC opener for WSC, Paige Pemberton scored in the 52nd minute thanks to an assist by Morgan Mancuso. 

WSC outhost Minnesota Crookston, 14-6 including 8-3 on goal. 

Goal scorers at MSU Moorhead began with Mancuso (assist by Kaylee Herall) in the 13th minute as well as Pemberton (assist by Reagan Allen) in the 15th minute. In the second half, Alaina Sorensen (assist by Nevaeh James) netted a goal in the 68th minute before Briella Thompsen (assist by Taylor Woods) closed with a goal in the 85th minute.

MSU Moorhead held a 20-16 shot advantage but it was WSC using a 12-6 on goal lead.

For the season, Hofstetter holds a 0.21 goals against average and is tied for second in the NSIC in fewest goals allowed (one). She also ranks second with a .962 save percentage. 

Wayne State College will next host Minnesota Duluth on Friday, September 26 at 3 p.m. followed by a home match with Bemidji State on Sunday, September 28 at 1 p.m,
