A second straight year Wayne State College football matched up against Concordia-St. Paul led to back-to-back shutout wins in consecutive meetings with the Golden Bears.
From Sea Foam Stadium in St. Paul, Minnesota on Nov. 1, WSC secured a 34-0 win at Concordia-St. Paul.
The Wildcats are now 5-4 overall (5-3 NSIC/3-1 South Division) and have won back-to-back with two weeks remaining on the season.
WSC also forced the Golden Bears to punt 12 times (448 total punt yards).
Redshirt junior running back Dawson Forgy added to his NSIC-best rushing performance with his first of three scores starting with a three-yard run (7:23 remaining in first quarter). He also posted a 23-yard rushing touchdown (2:51 left) to put WSC up 14-0 in the first quarter.
The Wildcats added a third score from Forgy on a two-yard run (1:20 remaining) for the lone second quarter score.
Junior placekicker Dawson Forgy was 4-5 on PATS as WSC led 20-0 at the break.
Following a scoreless third quarter, Wayne native and sophomore Alex Phelps hauled in his first receiving touchdown as a Wildcat following a 20-yard dime from sophomore Bennett Dannenbring (12:39 left).
Sophomore Brennan Hayes also ran in from two-yards to close scoring (5:03 left).
Final favored Wayne State College winning 34-0.
Dannenbring went 12-19 for 182 yards with one touchdown and also ran the ball five times for six yards.
Redshirt freshman Brady McGill finished 4-6 for 31 yards with one interception along with three rushes for 23 yards.
Forgy carried the rock 19 times for 75 yards and three scores followed by Hayes on 12 attempts for 49 yards and one score.
Phelps led the receivers with four catches for 76 yards and a score.
Junior wideout Elijah Hudson added three receptions for 64 yards as junior tight end Dane Petersen hauled in three catches for 45 yards.
Redshirt junior linebacker Kaden Johnson recorded a team-high 10 tackles (three solo) with two tackles for loss, a sack and a forced fumble.
Junior linebacker Clyde Hinton (six solo) and junior defensive end Carter Sitzman (three solo, 1.5 TFL/sack each) both followed with seven total tackles.
Junior defensive tackle Luke Lambert (five tackles) was credited with a blocked field goal.
Wayne State College ran 69 plays for 380 yards (213 passing/167 rushing) while Concordia-St. Paul was limited to 53 plays for 117 yards (74 passing/43 rushing).
WSC (4-4 red-zone scores-chances) converted 9-16 on third downs and went 1-1 on fourth down while CSP (0-1 in the red-zone) finished 3-17 on third downs.
The Wayne State College football team will next travel to Sioux Falls on Nov. 8 at 1 p.m. before closing out their season hosting #5 Augustana on Nov. 15 at 1 p.m.
