Wildcats compete in Mount Marty Twilight meet

Mary Alderson posted first-place finishes in the 200 and 400-meter dashes to lead the Wayne State College women Wednesday at the Mount Marty Twilight Meet held at the Yankton (S.D.) High School Outdoor Track Complex. 

Alderson recorded times of 25.69 seconds in the 200-meter dash and 57.06 seconds in the 400-meter dash to collect first-place finishes for the Wildcats.

Allysa Kimpson took sixth in the 200-meter dash (26.67) and eighth in the 100-meter dash (13.13). Sophie Noecker came in fourth in the 100-meter hurdles (16.61) while Joan Jelimo collected a fourth-place finish in the 800-meter run at 2:18.17.

Other top individual finishers were Hanna Lazure taking fifth in the high jump, clearing 4-11; Kim Lowman took ninth in the 800-meter run (2:25.56) and Molly McCartney was 10th in the 1,500-meter run (5:13.01).

The Wildcat 1,600-meter relay team of Lowman, Kimpson, Brianna Crouch and McKayla Hanson was second with a time of 4:20.00.

In men’s action thrower Cade Kalkowski recorded an NCAA provisional and personal best mark in the hammer throw to lead the Wildcats.

Kalkowski’s mark of 191-2 was good for third place in the meet and the mark now sits 19th in NCAA Div. II. He was one of five Wildcats to place in the top 10 in the hammer throw. Dylan Kaup was fifth at 173-1, Matthew Nemec sixth (172-1), Richard Sweeney eighth at 170-0 and Cole Christoffersen 10th (164-9).

Braxton Adams had the highest finish for the Wildcats, taking second in the 100-meter dash at 11.22 seconds while Preston Adams also posted a second-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles in 55.61 seconds to go with a ninth-place timing in the 110-meter high hurdles (16.00).

Brady Metz came in fourth in the triple jump (44-11 3/4) and took sixth in the long jump at 20-9 3/4.

Other top finishers were Jordan Zautke finishing sixth in the 100-meter dash (11.56), Nathan Pearson took eighth in the 800-meter run (1:57.99) and Isaias Solorio was 10th in the 5,000-meter run in a time of 16:13.54.

Wayne State throwers Michaela Dendinger, Kacie O’Connor and Tia Jones will compete in the Drake Relays on Friday and Saturday in Des Moines, Iowa. The next action for Wildcat men will be Sunday and Monday when senior Derek Lahm and junior Robert Sullivan compete in the NSIC Multis in Aberdeen, S.D.
