Wildcats dominate on home pitch

A handful of goals were scored Sunday afternoon in favor of the Wayne State College women’s soccer team.

From the WSC soccer pitch, the Wildcats welcomed Minnesota Crookston.

Three first half goals and two more in the second half favored Wayne State College winning 5-0. WSC improved to 5-5-5 (4-3-4 NSIC) while the Golden Eagles fell to 1-12-1 (1-10-1).

Kaylee Herall scored in the 20th minute (19:39) off an assist by Paige Pemberton, Halena Handel added a goal in the 31st minute (30:02) and Morgan Rhodes in the 37th minute (36:36).

Second half goals came from Pemberton in the 47th minute (46:40) off an assist by Maia Vacks along with Alyssa Ferin in the 73rd minute (72:23) off a penalty kick.

Pemberton recorded five shot attempts, four on goal, one in goal and one assist; Herall used two shot attempts on goal with one in goal; Rhodes and Ferin both had two shots with one in the back of the net; Handel totaled one shot in the back of the net as Vacks added one shot on goal with an assist.

Rachel Davis posted four shots with two on goal; Erin Peters and Tyler Donaldson both tallied one shot on goal of two attempted; Brynn Magner and Tali Shradar both tacked on one shot on goal as shot attempts came from Alaina Sorensen, Neleah Dunlap, Reagan Allen and Madilyn Schmeling.

Alexa Hofstetter was in goal for 45 minutes and recorded three saves as Sidney Truman added one save in 45 minutes in goal.

Wayne State College outshot Minnesota Crookston, 27-15 including 16-4 on goal. WSC recorded six corner kicks compared to one by the Golden Eagles.

Three matches remain on the regular season for Wayne State College women’s soccer. WSC will next visit University of Mary on Friday, Nov. 1.
