One final week remains in the NSIC volleyball regular season schedule for Wayne State College as the Wildcats fell five spots in the most recent national poll.
According to a release from Wayne State Athletics, the Wildcats earned 564 points in voting conducted by various Division II coaches during the AVCA/TARAFLEX Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll. WSC is now #15.
The Wildcats split home matches this past weekend with a 3-0 sweep over MSU Moorhead on Friday followed by a five-set loss to then rated #21 Northern State on Saturday.
WSC has dropped two of their past three matches falling to 20-6 (12-4 NSIC) and are tied for third in the league standings.
Ferris State (26-0) remains among the top of the coaches poll with 40 first place votes. #2 St. Cloud State (23-2) remained the same with three first place votes as #3 Cal Poly Pomona (22-1) remained the same with four first place votes.
Other NSIC teams joining WSC and St. Cloud State include #8 Concordia-St. Paul (19-5) remained the same; #16 Southwest Minnesota State (21-4) remained the same and #18 Northern State (19-5) moved up three spots. Minnesota Duluth (12) received votes and was listed on two or more ballots.
#15 Wayne State College will visit University of May on Friday, Nov. 15 at 6 p.m. before traveling to Minot State on Saturday, Nov. 16 at 11 a.m.
