Wayne State made it a perfect 8-0 on their latest weekend home stand, sweeping Bemidji State 3-2 and 6-3 in Sunday action at the Chapman Complex to improve to 19-18 overall and 14-4 in NSIC action.
In the opener, the Wildcats got two runs in the seventh to tie the game and send it to extra innings, then got the game-winner in the eighth as Caitlin Fehringer doubled and, after the bases were loaded, scored on Emily Chandler's grounder in the drawn-in infield.
Cassy Miller got the win, allowing five hits and two runs. Lexie Loos was 4-for-4 to continue her torrid hitting this season, while Sam O'Brien had three hits and Melanie Alyea added two hits.
In the nightcap, Loos continued her hot hitting by going 3-for-3, and the Wildcats used a three-run sixth inning to put the game out of reach, highlighted by Katelyn Wobken's two-run single.
Shelby Wobken got the win for the Wildcats, pitching five innings, while Miller came on in relief to earn her first save of the season.
The Wildcats are home Tuesday to face Sioux Falls in a 2 p.m. doubleheader at the Chapman Complex.
