Nov. 15 marked the end of the 2025 regular season for both the Wayne State College football team and #2 WSC volleyball where both programs captured two-thirds of the weekly awards.
According to a release from Wayne State Athletics, sophomore Molly Romano and freshman Delaney Miller along with graduate Alex Kowalczyk and junior placekicker Boston Hensley were honored.
Romano, a 5-9 sophomore from Council Bluffs, Iowa (Abraham Lincoln HS), collected her third NSIC Setter of the Week award this season. She recorded a league-high 12.57 assists per set to go with 2.71 digs per set.
Miller, a 5-10 freshman from Ankeny, Iowa (Centennial HS) earned her first NSIC Offensive Player of the Week honor. She averaged an NSIC-best 5.71 kills per set while hitting .333 in two matches. Miller also led the NSIC last week with 6.00 points per set.
#2 Wayne State College (27-3, 14-match win streak) is also the #2 team in the NSIC Tournament where they recently won 3-1 over #7 Northern State (receiving votes) on Nov. 18 in Wayne. WSC will face the #3 seed St. Cloud State (#11 DII) on Nov. 21 at 5 p.m. in St. Paul, MN during the NSIC semifinals.
Kowalczyk, a 5-11, 220 pound graduate student from Sioux Falls, S.D. (O'Gorman HS) recorded his fourth career NSIC Defensive Player of the Week honor (first this season). He finished with 16 tackles in Saturday's 38-31 win over then #13 Augustana. He was credited with 10 solo tackles along with one sack and two pass breakups.
Hensley, a 5-11, 190-pound junior from Council Bluffs, Iowa (Lewis Central HS), was named NSIC Special Teams Player of the Week for the second time this year (third in career). He scored eight points. He was 5-5 on PAT kicks and also booted a 39-yard field goal in the fourth quarter. Hensley averaged 64.7 yards on seven kickoffs with five touchbacks.
The Wayne State College football team finished their season winning four straight at 7-4 overall (7-3 NSIC) and earned a share of the NSIC South Division (5-1) with Minnesota State-Mankato.
