Top-ranked Southwest Minnesota State posted a .347 attack percentage with 11 service aces to take down No. 17 Wayne State 25-16, 25-13, 25-15 Saturday in Northern Sun Conference volleyball action in Marshall, Minn.
The Mustangs never trailed in the first set, limiting the Wildcats to just six kills for the easy win, then hit .484 with 17 kills in the second set to take the 2-0 advantage.
Southwest Minnesota State closed out the match with five aces in the third set to complete the sweep, dropping Wayne State to 6-4 overall and 1-1 in NSIC action.
Erin Gross led WSC with six kills followed by Tarrin Beller and Jaci Brahmer with five apiece. Libero Haley Kauth had 12 digs while setter Megan Gebhardt was credited with 17 assists.
Wayne State will be at home Tuesday evening, hosting No. 9 Augustana at 6 p.m. in the 12th annual Pack the House/Black Out Night in Rice Auditorium.
