Wildcats listed fourth in NSIC preseason poll

Wayne State College was listed fourth in the 2025 NSIC Volleyball Preseason Coaches’ Poll released Monday morning by the league office in Burnsville, Minnesota.  Wildcat junior outside hitter Channatee Robles was selected as the Wildcat Player of the Year in the NSIC this season.

Wayne State received 188 points in voting conducted by league coaches.  The Wildcats finished the 2024 season 23-7 overall and tied for third in the NSIC with a 14-4 league mark.

Defending NSIC regular season and tournament champion St. Cloud State was voted the team to beat in the NSIC this season collecting eight first-place ballots and 212 points followed by Concordia-St. Paul in second at 208 points and four first-place votes.  Southwest Minnesota State was third with 202 points and the remaining four first-place votes with Wayne State (188) and Northern State (170) rounding out the top five teams.

Sioux Falls came in sixth at 133 points followed closely by Winona State (132), Minnesota Duluth (130), Minnesota State (123) and Augustana (110) closing out the top 10 teams.

Robles, a 5-10 junior outside hitter from Norfolk (Norfolk Catholic HS), is the top returning hitter for the Wildcats after producing 2.96 kills and 2.62 digs last season to earn All-NSIC First Team honors.  She tied for 12th in the league in kills per set and had seven double-doubles on the season.

Wayne State opens the 2025 season on Thursday, September 4th at the Trevecca Nazarene/Ray Thrasher Classic in Nashville, Tennessee facing Henderson State of Arkansas in a 7 p.m. match.
