The Wayne State track and field teams posted some solid finishes in action Saturday at the Emporia State Relays in Emporia, Kan.
On the men’s side, Justin Brueggemann posted a third-place finish in the 3,000-meter run to post the best finish of the day for the Wildcat men. He recorded a time of 8:57.08.
The Wildcat 400-meter relay team of Brandon Marker, Braxton Adams, Clay Kramper and Jordan Zautke finished fifth in 42.37 seconds.
Brady Metz finished seventh in the triple jump (46 feet, 4 inches) and finished 12th in the long jump (22-1).
Adams placed eighth in the 100-meter dash (10.82) while Kramper was 12th in 10.9. Kramper also finished 10th in the 200-meter dash (22.15). Nick Fly was 13th in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:05.20.
In women’s action, Kyndra Sturm led the Wildcats with a sixth-place finish of 169-1 in the hammer throw, just missing out on an NCAA provisional mark.
In other action, Kacie O’Connor was eighth in the discus (140-5), Molly Kingsley placed 12th in the 3,000-meter run (11:19.43) and Melissa Kroll was 12th in the 400 (1:00.12).
Wayne State will compete at a pair of meets next weekend - the NSIC/MIAA Challenge in Maryville, Mo., and the Concordia Invite in Seward.
