The Wayne State volleyball team was a unanimous No. 1 selection for a second straight week in the American Volleyball Coaches Association Divi. II Top 25 Coaches Poll.
The Wildcats set a new school record with their 17th and 18th consecutive wins over the weekend in home sweeps over Bemidji State and Minnesota Crookston and received all 47 first-place votes in this week’s rankings.
Five Northern Sun Conference schools make up half of the top 10 this week, including the top-ranked Wildcats, No. 3 Concordia-St. Paul, No. 6 Minnesota Duluth, No. 7 St. Cloud State and No. 8 Southwest Minnesota State.
Five other Central Region teams are in this week’s rankings, including No. 5 Nebraska-Kearney, No. 10 Northwest Minnesota State, No. 12 Washburn, No. 23 Central Missouri and No. 24 Central Oklahoma, which makes its first rankings appearance of the season.
Wayne State visits Augustana Tuesday evening followed by weekend road matches at Northern State Friday (6 p.m.) and MSU Moorhead Saturday (3:30 p.m.).
