Wildcats stand toe-for-toe with #9 Mavericks in home tie; snap 18-game losing streak dating back to 1998

After playing the past two weekends on the road, Wayne State College women’s soccer was back at the confines of Wayne America.

From the WSC Soccer Pitch, WSC welcomed #9 Minnesota State-Mankato on Sunday.

Neither team scored in 90 minutes of play to end in a 0-0 draw. The tie snapped an 18-game losing skid to the Mavericks dating back to the series opener in the 1998 season.

Wayne State College is now 4-5-4 (3-3-3 NSIC) as the Mavericks move to 9-1-4 (8-0-2 NSIC).

Paige Pemberton and Rachel Davis both placed one of two shots on goal while Maia Vacks added a shot on goal.

Riann Daas, Reagan Allen, Haley Hoffman, Halena Handel and Madilyn Schmeling all attempted one shot.

Sidney Truman was in goal all 90 minutes. She recorded six saves in her fourth solo shutout of the season (also had one combined shutout).

Minnesota State-Mankato outshot WSC, 17-10 including 6-3 on goal. The Mavericks recorded seven corner kicks compared to one by Wayne State College.
