Wildcats start regional play Thursday

The Wayne State volleyball team will compete in the Central Region volleyball tournament that begins Thursday at the Gangelhoff Center in St. Paul, Minn.

The Wildcats are the No. 2 seed in the eight-team tournament and will take on No. 7 seed Minnesota Duluth in the first round Thursday at 2:30 p.m.

The winner advances to Friday’s 5 p.m. semifinal against either No. 3 seed Southwest Minnesota State or No. 6 Nebraska-Kearney, with the finals set for Saturday at 7 p.m. The regional champion advances to the Elite Eight, set for Dec. 7-9 at Moon Township, Pa.

Thursday’s Games
12 p.m. — No. 3 Southwest Minnesota State (23-6) vs. No. 6 Nebraska-Kearney (28-5)
2:30 p.m. — No. 2 Wayne State (28-2) vs. No. 7 Minnesota Duluth (18-10)
5 p.m. — No. 4 Central Missouri (25-7) vs. No. 5 St. Cloud State (22-8)
7:30 p.m. — No. 1 Concordia-St. Paul (28-2) vs. No. 8 Oklahoma Baptist (22-8)

Friday’s Games
5 p.m. — SWMS/UNK winner vs. WSC/UMD winner
7:30 p.m. — CMU/SCSU winner vs. CSP/OBU winner

Saturday’s Championship
7 p.m. — Semifinal winners
