Wildcats under consideration following initial release of central region rankings

With four matches remaining in the regular season and ahead of the NSIC Volleyball Tournament, Wayne State College was listed among the teams under consideration for the first NCAA Central Region rankings.

According to a release from Wayne State Athletics, regional rankings were posted by the NCAA office in Indianapolis, Indiana.  The first ranking of the season lists teams in alphabetical order listed as under consideration.

The NSIC, Mid-America Athletic Association and Great American Conference comprise the 39-team NCAA Central Region.  The top eight teams in the region will advance to the NCAA Central Region Tournament December 5 – 8. The NCAA volleyball selection show will be streamed online on Monday, November 25 at 6:30 p.m. Central Time on NCAA.com.

#10 Wayne State College is 19-5 on the season and third place in the NSIC with an 11-3 league mark heading into this weekend’s home matches. WSC will host MSU Moorhead Friday at 6 p.m. and #21 Northern State Saturday at 4 p.m.

Friday will mark senior night along with the annual autograph poster night with autographs taking place directly after the match.

Other NSIC teams listed include #2 St. Cloud State, #8 Concordia-St. Paul, #16 Southwest Minnesota State and Winona State. MIAA teams are #5 Nebraska-Kearney, #11 Central Oklahoma, Washburn (receiving votes), Missouri Western (RV) and Emporia State.

The championship quarterfinals, semifinals and final match will take place Thursday – Saturday, December 12 – 14, at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
