Wildcats win in four, three with double figure kills and sixth double-double for Romano

In-between a pair of three straight home matches, #8 Wayne State College volleyball continued NSIC play on the road.

From the Taylor Center in Mankato, Minnesota, the Wildcats visited Minnesota State-Mankato Saturday afternoon.

Wayne State College survived the Saturday road match with a four-set victory. The Wildcats are now 16-3 (10-1 NSIC) as Minnesota State-Mankato fell to 13-5 (5-5 NSIC).

  Scores of the match favored WSC 25-22, 25-15, 22-25, 25-15.

Taya Beller recorded 17 kills, five blocks (two solo) and two digs, Brooklyn Kusler followed with 16 kills and four digs as Maggie Brahmer (.375) added 11 kills, four blocks and one dig.

Molly Romano posted her sixth double-double with 46 assists and 13 digs to go along with three kills and one block as Brooke Peltz led WSC in digs with 34.

Channatee Robles tallied eight kills, 18 digs and a block. Other digs came from Anna Borner (seven), Allie Petry (seven) and Taylor Bunjer tacked on five blocks (four digs).

Romano finished with two service aces as Peltz, Kusler and Beller all had an ace.

WSC outhit Minnesota State-Mankato, .257 to .114. Wayne State College also held advantages in points (69-61), kills (55-49), assists (49-45), digs (90-75) and blocks (9-4). The Wildcats forced Minnesota State-Mankato into 29 attack errors (16 for WSC).

#8 Wayne State College will welcome #7 Southwest Minnesota State on Thursday, Oct. 24 at 6 p.m. and also host Sioux Falls during Hall of Fame weekend on Saturday, Oct. 26 at 4 p.m.
