Wildcats win Sioux Falls Invite, Brodersen with runner-up finish

A fifth fall outing closed out the 2024 schedule of Wayne State College women’s golf.

From The Falls Golf Club in Larchwood, Iowa, WSC joined nine other teams during the Sioux Falls Invite on Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 14 – 15.

The Wildcat women won the Sioux Falls Invite with rounds of 309 and 317 for a two-day total 626.

Wayne State College was led by a runner-up finish from Abbigail Brodersen following rounds of 73 and 78 for a 151. Both Erica Lee (75/81) and Camryn Johnson (77/79) tied for fifth with a 156.

Other Wildcat results came from Hailey Kenkel (86/79) and Saffire Sayre (84/81) who both tied for 27th with a 165.

Individual WSC scores were posted by Gaia Stancikova tied 24th with a 164 (82/82) and Meg Thompson tied for 34th with a 168 (80/88).

The Wildcats won the Sioux Falls Invite by six shot followed by Winona State (316/316) and Augustana (316/316) both in runner-up with a 632, Sioux Falls A took fourth with a 636 (312/324) and Minnesota Crookston rounded out the top five teams with a 648 (320/328).

Clara Hanson from Minnesota Crookston was the individual champion with rounds of 72 and 76 for a 148 among the 63 golfers.

The Wayne State College women’s golf team will resume their season in the Spring.
