The Winside volleyball team had a wild start to the season but came up short in a five-set loss to Plainview at home, losing 25-23, 25-20, 19-25, 14-25, 15-10.
Andi Bargstadt had a big night at the net with a career-high 22 kills, while Jackie Escalante, Jaden Rastede and Kati Topp each had eight. Brookly Behmer put up 35 assists and Ashelyn Abler had three ace serves.
Defensively, Bargstadt had 19 digs, Haylee Cummins added 16 and Escalante had 11. Rastede put up four blocks.
Winside, 0-1, plays in a quadrangular at Randolph on Saturday.
