Winside drops home doubleheader

A busy home week began Tuesday night for the Winside girls and boys basketball teams.

From Winside Public Schools, the Wildcats entertained Omaha Nation.

The Winside girls suffered a 55-33 loss while the Winside boys dropped a 75-49 decision against the visiting Chiefs.

In the girls game, Winside fell to 3-9 dropping back-to-back while Omaha Nation improved to 11-5 winning their fourth straight.

Winside was led in scoring by sophomore Hadleigh Schutt with 13 points as fellow sophomore Ellie Topp added nine points.

During the boys outing, Winside dropped their seventh consecutive game now at 1-11 as Omaha Nation snapped a two-game losing streak moving to 6-9.

Winside leaders were junior Caleb Offner with 17 points, sophomore Tyler Paulsen added 16 points as sophomore Brayden Lurz followed with 10 points.

The Winside girls and boys will next host Walthill on Thursday, January 16.
