Class D2-3 Subdistrict volleyball action began Monday evening for Winside.
From Wynot, #3 Winside took on #2 Archangels Catholic to open postseason competition.
Following a back-and-forth match, Winside suffered a five set loss (25-18, 20-25, 25-20, 21-25, 12-15).
The Wildcats ended their season at 12-13 as Archangels Catholic improved to 14-14.
Freshman Bridget Marotz recorded a double-double with 26 kills and 27 digs to go along with a solo block while sophomore Hadleigh Schutt posted a double-double with 27 assists and 13 digs along with four kills and two blocks (one solo). Junior Jerzi Carlson tied for the team lead in digs with 27 as another double figure dig leader came from senior Samantha Gubbels with 23.
Sophomore Katelyn Jaeger followed with six kills, five digs and one block as sophomore Ellie Topp added four kills and nine digs. Other digs came from senior Skylar Spann who had five assists (nine digs) and sophomore Raylyn Behmer (one).
Schutt finished with four service aces, Spann tallied three aces, Jaeger tacked on two aces as Marotz had an ace.
