As eight-man playoff brackets will be finalized and postseason competition set for Thursday, Oct. 24, week eight closed out the regular season Thursday night for a pair of area teams.
From Randolph, the Cardinals entertained Winside.
After breaking free from a tied game early, Winside pulled away for the 34-8 victory. The Wildcats improved to 5-3 as Randolph ended the season at 1-7.
Both teams scored a touchdown and converted the two-point try in the first quarter at 8-8.
Korbin Carlson from Winside rushed in from 15-yards while Randolph’s Milo Rayford answered on a two-yard score.
Winside then scored the lone points in the second quarter to lead 16-8 at half. Aden Sellin scored from one-yard.
In the third quarter, Winside added a safety to go up 18-8.
The visiting Wildcats scored twice more in the fourth quarter to go on and win 34-8. Carlson scored twice more on the ground (eight and two yards) for Winside.
Entering Thursday, Winside was in a tie for one of the final spots of the round of 32 for Class D2.
