With a few other subdistrict tournaments being adjusted, the Winside girls were able to host a play-in game while both Laurel-Concord-Coleridge and Wakefield had to travel south.
Originally scheduled to be played in Humphrey at Archangels Catholic, the D2-3 Subdistrict moved their play-in game to the higher seeded #4 Winside hosting #5 Randolph on Monday.
The host Wildcats secured a 55-27 victory to improve to 7-17 winning back-to-back while Randolph ended their season at 0-20.
Winside leaders were freshman Bridget Marotz with 24 points while sophomore Hadleigh Schutt added 17 points.
#4 Winside will next face #1 Archangels Catholic (16-7) at 6 p.m. in the D2-3 Subdistrict semifinal in Humphrey on Tuesday. The later game will showcase #2 Bancroft-Rosalie (11-11) vs. #3 Wynot (13-8) at 7:30 p.m.
In Columbus hosted by Scotus Central Catholic, #5 Laurel-Concord-Coleridge took on #4 Logan View/Scribner-Snyder during the C1-4 Subdistrict play-in on Monday.
LCC suffered a 59-53 loss to end their season at 12-12 having a two-game winning streak snapped while the Raiders improved to 11-12.
The Bears were led in scoring by sophomore Rena Rasmussen with 24 points while sophomore Kaida Eriksen followed with 15 points going 5-6 from three.
Other scoring came from senior Lainey Schutte with nine points, junior Brynlee Stanley added three points as junior Karli Ferris scored two points.
#6 Wakefield then closed out their season with a trip to North Bend during the C1-6 Subdistrict on Monday. The Trojans suffered a 52-11 loss to #3 Clarkson-Leigh to fall to 4-18 dropping their second straight as the Patriots moved to 13-11 winning back-to-back.
No scoring was provided from Wakefield.
Most girls subdistrict semifinals will be played on Tuesday with others just beginning their play-in round(s) following a Monday delay. Games will now be played on Wednesday with the championship round for subdistricts remaining on Thursday.
