Seven girls and eight boys track & field programs took over Haskell Field in Laurel during the Winside Jim Winch Invitational.
From the home track of Laurel-Concord-Coleridge on May 8, Winside was the host team.
The Winside girls finished fourth with 54.5 points while the Winside boys took sixth with 32 points. The LCC girls totaled 118 points for a third place team finish as the LCC boys tied for fourth with 56 points.
In the girls division, Tri County Northeast (Allen/Emerson-Hubbard) won the Winside Jim Winch Invite with 152 points ahead of Wausa who followed in runner-up (120).
The Winside girls were led by an event champion by sophomore Hadleigh Schutt winning both the shot put (36' 9") and discus (114' 2"/PR) as sophomore Katelyn Jaeger captured silver during the 3200-meter run (14:00.57).
Freshman Bridget Marotz took fourth in the 100-meter dash (13.88), sophomore Adrianna Miller placed fourth during the 1600-meter run (6:39.01) and sophomore Aleah Bilstein finished fourth in the long jump (13' 7"/PR).
In relays, the 4x800 of Miller, sophomore Hadley Sellin, Bilstein and sophomore Katelyn Jaeger finished second (11:17.83) and the 4x400 of Bilstein, Miller, Sellin and Marotz placed fourth (5:04.47).
The LCC girls captured gold by sophomore Carlie Kvols in the 800-meter run (2:34.02) as junior Kate Tasler won the 1600-meter run (6:03.46) and posted a second place finish in the 800-meter run (2:34.3/PR). First place relays came from the 4x400-meter relay of sophomore Hattie McCorkindale, senior Tali Erwin, junior Tyler Recob and Kvols (4:26.5) and the 4x800 of Kvols, Recob, sophomore Justice Olson and Kate Tasler (10:34.6).
Olson took second in the 1600-meter run (6:27.07) and third during the 3200-meter run (14:03.82).
Freshman Taelynn Settje collected three medals starting with a second place mark in the long jump (14' 10 3/4") in the long jump, fourth during the 200-meter dash (28.65) and fifth in the 100-meter dash (13.93).
Erwin also cleared 4'11" for third in the high jump, freshman Grace Galvin finished fourth in the 110-meter hurdles (20.27/PR) and freshman Ava Christiansen recorded a fourth place medal in the 3200-meter run (14:35.97).
In relays, the 4x100 of McCorkindale, Settje, Grace Galvin and freshman Jolynn Kinkaid placed third in a time of 54.84.
Tri County Northeast Wolfpack champions were junior Kiya Tornez in the 100-meter dash (13.44), 200-meter dash (26.87) and long jump (15' 1 1/2"), senior Bre Millard during both the 100-meter hurdles (17.1/PR) and 300-meter hurdles (49.23), junior Alejandra Hermosillo with a PR in the 3200-meter run (13:38.98),
Also, the 4x100-meter relay team of junior Rachael Bousquet, Millard, sophomore Joslyn Mackling and Kiya Tornez (51.54) crossed the line first by less than 0.08 seconds.
During the boys division, Tri County Northeast won the Winside Jim Winch Invite with 118 points edging Wausa by three points in runner-up (115).
The Winside boys were led by junior Caleb Offner winning both the shot put (49' 2 1/2") and discus (151 ' 6").
Sophomore Tyler Paulson also earned a third place medal in the discus (127' 7"/PR).
The LCC boys were led by event champions from senior Preston Rose winning the 400-meter dash (52.38) as junior Shane Langford captured gold with a personal-best in the 1600-meter run (5:14.58). Also, the 4x800 of Langford, freshman Sebastiaan Van Drongelen, sophomore Hunter Benson and senior Carter Korth crossed the line first by nearly a minute (9:31.21).
Junior Jaylen Carpenter recorded a third place finish with a PR during the shot put (44' 9 1/2"), Carter Korth finished fourth in the 800-meter run (2:22.74).
Tri County Northeast Wolkfpack champions were senior Bryan Isom during the 110-meter hurdles (15.97), 300-meter hurdles (41.8) and triple jump (40' 3 3/4") as well as sophomore Jude Ridenour in the 3200-meter run (11:33.11).
