Winside was the only one of the four area schools to advance to the semifinals of the Lewis & Clark Conference volleyball tournament after play Saturday.
The third-seeded Wildcats took care of Plainview in straight sets, 25-22, 25-14, but needed to come from behind to outlast Homer in a five-set thriller, winning 22-25, 22-25, 25-18, 25-15, 15-7. They will face Ponca in the semifinals on Monday.
Wakefield won their opening-round match, as the eighth-seeded Trojans defeated No. 9 Walthill 25-14, 25-13. They lost in the quarterfinals to top-seeded Wynot, 25-22, 25-11, 28-26.
Tenth-seeded Allen lost their first-round match to No. 7 Hartington-Newcastle, losing 25-15, 25-16.
LCC, seeded 12th, lost in the opening round to fifth-seeded Randolph, losing 25-19, 25-11.
The semifinals are set for Monday beginning at 5:30 p.m. in Hartington. The consolation and championship games will be played Tuesday starting at 5:30 p.m. at Laurel.
