Following indoor action, the Winside girls and boys track & field team began outdoor competition with two other teams.
From Wisner-Pilger Jr/Sr High School in Wisner, the Wildcats joined the host Gators along with Howells-Dodge during the Wisner-Pilger triangular on Thursday.
In the girls division, Winside champions came from freshman Bridget Marotz in the high jump (4′ 8″) and sophomore Hadleigh Schutt won the shot put (32′ 4″).
Runner-up results were posted by sophomore Adrianna Miller in the 1600-meter run (6:47.06), sophomore Hadley Sellin during the 800-meter run (3:01.07) and sophomore Katelyn Jaeger in the 3200-meter run (15:08.59).
Marotz also earned a third place medal during the 400-meter dash (1:12.37), sophomore Ellie Topp took third in the discus (90′) and third in shot (29′ 3″); Schutt placed fourth in discus (89′ 1″), freshman Riley Petersen placed fifth in the 400-meter dash (1:15.89) and sophomore Aleah Bilstein took fifth in the 200-meter dash (31.04).
Two relays posted runner-up finishes from the 4×800 (Miller, Jaeger, Bilstein and Sellin) in 12:15.6 along with the 4×400 (Bilstein, Miller, Sellin and Marotz) in 4:54.56.
During the boys division, junior Caleb Offner won both the discus (137′ 5″) and shot put (50′ 3″).
Sophomore Carter Krause placed fourth in the 100-meter dash (12.85). A trio of Wildcats medaled during the 400-meter dash from freshman Noah Pace (fourth – 1:08.45), junior William Pace (fifth – 1:09.3) and sophomore Landyn Colfack (sixth – 1:21.45).
Also placing inside the top six in discus were sophomore Tyler Paulsen (fifth – 109′ 2″) and William Pace (sixth – 105′ 4″) as Paulsen also finished sixth in shot (35′) while William Pace took fifth in the 200-meter dash (26.72).
