Winside volleyball takes 3-0 match over Wausa, Schutt with double-double

Back-to-back nights of high school volleyball were on the schedule for Winside.

From Winside, the Wildcats hosted Wausa one night after picking up a 3-1 win at Walthill on Monday.

Winside secured the 3-0 sweep over Wausa to improve to 5-6 as Wausa fell to 2-7.

Scores of the match favored Winside 25-21, 25-18, 25-11.

Sophomore Hadleigh Shutt recorded a double-double with 11 kills and 10 assists to go along with five digs and two blocks as freshman Bridget Marotz led the team in digs with seven along with nine kills and five blocks (one solo).

Junior Jerzi Carlson (five digs), sophomore Ellie Topp (one block) and sophomore Katelyn Jaeger (three blocks/one dig) all had three kills as sophomore Raylyn Behmer added two kills, four assists and a dig. Other digs came from senior Skylar Spann (four) who also had eight assists.

Topp and Carlson both finished with four service aces, Marotz and Schutt each added two aces as Jaeger had an ace.

The Winside volleyball team will next host Pender on Monday, Sept. 30.
