Tri County Northeast will be starting their sixth year under the co-op of Allen and Emerson-Hubbard.
Jacob Sebade is entering his fourth year as the head coach for Wolfpack wrestling after serving as an assistant coach his first year.
Joining coach Sebade are Scout Ashburn and Dylan Huber leading the five girls and seven boys.
Seniors are Kiya Tornez and Jenni Olson for the girls along with two seniors on the boys team being Nate Franzluebbers and Aidan Isom.
With the wrestlers staying busy over the summer, the coaches left it up the student-athletes for off season conditioning until day one on the mat where the work began.
The Wolfpack wrestlers first worked on all the basics during week one of the NSAA winter sports practices before refining them moving forward.
"We spend the first couple of weeks going through every set-up, take down, any combination, bottom, etc.," said Sebade. "Just trying to expose them to as much as possible. They kind of figure out their style and perfect their craft as the season goes on."
The Wolfpack girls will return their group from last year including a sixth place state medal at Class B 145 by Kiya Tornez.
"Last year was her first year ever wrestling," said Sebade. "So, she stepped on the mat for the first time in November and when she stepped off of it she had a state medal."
Tornez will be focusing on body control and body positioning.
Jenni Olson lost in the heartbreak round last year at districts.
"She let that kind of fuel her fire," said Sebade. "She put in a ton of work this off season. Really excited to watch her run out the gates."
Tri County Northeast boys did graduate a sixth place medalists from Class C 157 last season.
Top boys returners on a fairly young team were highlighted by coach Sebade.
Nate Franzluebberes - "he's shown a tremendous amount of growth over his four-year Woflpack career and will look to build off of that."
Landon Newton - "he was a state qualifier last year."
Tri County Northeast coaches are excited for all the newcomers.
Coach Sebade would like to see the Wolfpack girls improve on just getting better.
"That first year I was the assistant coach, we didn't have a kid with a winning record at districts," said Sebade. "One of the most difficult things is teaching them to believe in the themselves that they can. Wrestling is a pretty difficult sport. You just go out there and it's you vs. them."
Over the years, the Tri County Northeast girls have improved with technique and developing a winning culture.
The answer is also the same for the boys.
"We just want to see them keep improving," said Sebade. "The wins and losses don't matter much to us because it's just a product of the work that you've put in. If you just focus on the day to day, keep putting in the work, the wins come. We just really try and preach that in the room and hoping that we can continue to do so, so the program keeps going in the right direction."
The Tri County Northeast boys will begin their season on Dec. 6 at Plainview while the Wolfpack girls will travel to Atkinson for the West Holt Invite on Dec. 8.
Coach Sebade is excited about their upcoming matches and said the film will show where they need to improve.
"We study film pretty heavily as coaches and run the practice plan accordingly where we have our weakness," said Sebade. "So, we're just going to throw a bunch at them until that first meet for everyone. Then we'll start catering to each individuals strength and that's when the refinement process starts."
The Tri County Northeast girls and boys wrestling program invites you to come support them.
Coach Sebade sahred, 'this is a tight-nit group that shows up and goes to battle.'
