The Wayne State College women’s cross country team placed eighth and the men finished 10th in the UNL Woody Greeno/Dirksen Invitational held at Pioneers Park in Lincoln.
In women’s competition, freshman Molly McCartney had the top time taking 79th out of 188 runners with a time of 24:40 on the 6,000-meter course. Junior Joan Jelimo followed in 108th place at 25:33.
Also running were Brianna Crouch (118th, 25:57), Kim Lowman (120th, 26:06), Josephine Peitz (163rd, 28:44), Sabrina Sack (171st, 29:28) and Mary Alderson (177th, 31:05).
In men’s action, Isaias Solorio came in 80th out of 170 runners with a time of 28:02 over the 8,000-meter course to lead the Wildcats. Sophomore Jack Doughty was right behind in 92nd place at 28:23.
Other Wildcat finishers included Brock Hegarty (119th, 29:26), Bailey Peckham (146th, 31:00), Nathan Pearson (147th, 31:05), Jesus Arellano (151st, 31:20) and Nathan Hiemer (162nd, 33:04).
Wayne State will compete again on Saturday, Sept. 23 in the Roy Griak Invitational at the University of Minnesota.
