Following National Volunteer Appreciation Month in April, the Wayne Public Library would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who helps support the library and its programs throughout the year.
Over the past year, 107 volunteers donated an incredible 1,293.24 hours of service to the library and community.
One of the library’s primary volunteer groups is the Friends of the Wayne Public Library. The Friends support the library through fundraising, community events, and volunteer service projects that help expand library opportunities for all ages.
Donations of books, DVDs, games, puzzles, and other items in good condition are always welcome. Donations may be dropped off at the library, though donations larger than six boxes are preferred at The Recycled Read location.
In addition to fundraising, Friends volunteers help in many ways throughout the year, including providing food for events, assisting with home delivery services every other week, and supporting larger community programs such as the Summer Reading Program Kick-Off Carnival and the annual egg hunt.
Library cardholders also have access to online resources including eBooks, magazines, and audiobooks through the Libby app, as well as Pronunciator for language learning.
Whether you are looking for entertainment, education, volunteer opportunities, or a place to connect with the community, the Wayne Public Library has something for everyone this summer.
