City Council meetings

Regular Wayne City Council meetings are at 5:30 p.m. on the first and third Monday of each month in City Hall at 513 Main Street. Come see the fireworks happen in your city government!

1100 E 10th Street Advisory Committee

At the most recent City Council meeting, the following people were appointed to the ad hoc 1100 E 10th Street Advisory Committee: Mark Lenihan (Wayne Community Schools), Marysz Rames (Wayne State College), Nicole Haglund (Providence Medical Center), Matt Eischeid (Wayne County), Shane Baack, Kim Schultz, Trish Peters, Mike Varley, Megan Anderson, Aaron Scheffler, Alex Koch, Mike Barry and Emma Erwin. This committee with keep the Council informed of the progress of the planning with the 1100 E 10th Street properties.

46th Annual Wayne Chicken Show

The 46th annual Wayne Chicken Show (United We Cluck) will take place this year July 10 and 11.

The Wayne America office and its many volunteers put hours upon hours upon hours of time into planning this regional event, so I hope you get the chance to take part in some of the festivities. Make sure to welcome all of those visitors TO Wayne or BACK to Wayne, be they friends, family or Wayne alumni. Extend an invitation for all to come back often to visit, or even to make Wayne home!

Budget Season Upon Us

The City has started the budget process for fiscal year 2027 (Oct 1, 2026 – Sept. 30, 2027). Department heads will meet with Beth and me over the next two weeks to request certain items (operational and capital expenses) to ultimately be run by City Council before the budget is approved. The Council will be setting a time at a future Council meeting to go through the budget with staff and each other (likely in early August).
