City Council meetings
Regular Wayne City Council meetings are at 5:30 p.m. on the first and third Monday of each month in City Hall at 513 Main Street. Come see the fireworks happen in your city government!
Housing
The City Council had a long discussion at its last retreat about housing options in Wayne and how the City could utilize its property to assist with development. Staff will be reaching out to engineers to specifically look into the development of the 60+ acres that the City purchased straight north of Great Dane. Much discussion centered on what affordable housing is and how the City could make this happen.
The Community Redevelopment Authority has on its agenda at its next meeting to discuss a couple of items to enhance existing housing conditions as well as the possible construction of “tiny homes”. The definition of “tiny homes” differs depending on who you talk to.
Ordinance Review
The Council reviewed potential ordinance changes/creation that limited dog breeds, cat limitations, and bed bug infestations. While staff will continue to look into the cat and infestation ordinances, the vicious dog ordinance received most of the discussion at the last mini retreat.
At this point a dog ordinance will come before Council in the near future to make some minor changes to comply with state law, but will likely retain the current ban of pit bulls within city limits. If you have comments or concerns, don’t hesitate to reach out to your elected officials or City staff.
