The City of Wayne cleans approximately 35,000 linear feet of our sewer mains each year which ends up being just about a quarter of the collection system.
We expect the crew to start work in late July or early August so make sure to watch out for updates via newspaper, radio, and social media. If you have any questions about where the work will be taking place contact us and we can provide further information.
Water and Sewer Service Ownership
“Really??? How is that my responsibility?” That is a common question we struggle to answer at times when water is bubbling up in a yard or backing up a floor drain in the basement. Explaining water and sewer line ownership to customers is a common challenge for utility providers and plumbers. The boundaries aren’t always clear, but the city maintains the public main while the homeowners are responsible for their private services.
One way to combat a problem before it starts is to have a contractor inspect your water line to see what material you have or to routinely camera your sewer line to attempt to catch an issue before it escalates. Another option is to work with a third party to purchase a service line protection program.
