On a perfect fall-like day, over 1,700 fans filed into Memorial Stadium for the Wayne State College football home opener.

From Bob Cunningham Field on Sept. 12, WSC (then RV in coaches poll and ranked #24 in D2Football.com) welcomed #15/#16 Minnesota Duluth.

The visiting Bulldogs took advantage in the middle quarters to hold onto a 20-13 win.

WSC fell to 2-1 (1-1 NSIC) as UMD moved to 2-1 (2-0 NSIC).

Brady McGill closed the day completing 19-of-36 for 217 yards and two touchdowns.

Dawson Forgy was limited to 84 net yards on 19 carries.

Clyde Hinton nearly doubled his first two games of tackles thanks to a 12 tackle performance (eight solo), two tackles for loss and one sack. Fellow linebacker Dayne Mauk added seven total tackles (four solo) and a TFL.

One of the two road NSIC openers for #2 Wayne State College involved a top-10 showdown while the Wildcats were able to show support for Pediatric Cancer in conjunction with 'Angles Among Us' during their home opener in mid-September.

First from Mankato, MN it wasn't an easy task but the Wildcats shutout Minnesota State-Mankato in straight sets (25-22, 25-16, 25-16) on Sept. 11.

#2 WSC then followed with another 3-0 sweep this time over previously ranked #8 St. Cloud State (25-19, 25-14, 25-16) in St. Cloud, MN on Sept. 12. The Huskies are now #10 recent rankings.

After a quick break on Sunday, it was back to the court and this time for the WSC volleyball home opener at Rice Arena.

The Wildcats were tested by Briar Cliff in the first set but won their fourth straight match (25-21, 25-9, 25-15).

WSC is now 10-1 (2-0 NSIC).

Three match leaders were led by Delaney Miller with 34 kills followed by Chloe Hanel recording 25 kills to go along with 10 blocks (three solo).

Anna Borner totaled 42 digs while Molly Romano dished out 97 assists in a trio of three set matches to go along with 15 digs, nine kills and five aces.

With a four-match road stretch approaching, the Wayne State College women's soccer team was back on their home pitch for the third and fourth times.

From the WSC Soccer Complex, the Wildcats began the weekend with a 1-0 loss against MSU Moorhead on Sept. 11 but answered with a 2-0 shutout over Minnesota Crookston two days later.

Wayne State College is now 2-3 (1-1 NSIC).

In the loss on a windy Friday afternoon to the Dragons, goalkeeper Alexa Hofstetter recorded four saves in 90 minutes while allowing one goal.

Moving into a rainy Sunday afternoon, the Wildcats scored goals in the 30th minute from Tyler Donaldson  and by Briella Thompson in the 69th minute.

Hofstetter recorded three saves and pitched her first shutout of the season.

The Wayne State College women's golf team opened the 2026-27 season with a fourth-place finish at the Concordia-St. Paul/Minnesota State Fall Brawl.
