With the next week and a half of outings set to be played at Rice Arena, #2 Wayne State College closed out a two-match road trip with two more wins.
Starting in Aberdeen, SD on Oct. 2, WSC won in four sets at Northern State (25-23, 25-19, 20-25, 25-15) followed by their 11th straight win of the season thanks to a sweep at Jamestown (ND) (25-11, 25-13, 25-9) on Oct. 3.
The Wildcats are now 17-1 (9-0 NSIC). #14 Minnesota Duluth is also 9-0 in the league as the two teams are scheduled to face each other on Oct. 17 in Wayne at 1 p.m.
A pair of double-doubles were posted in the match at Northern State from Molly Romano (48 assists/10 digs) and Mattie Kamery (10 kills/21 digs).
Wayne State College junior Chloe Hanel was announced as the Northern Sun Conference Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week following her performances last week in three Wildcat NSIC road victories.
For the season, Hanel is averaging 2.70 kills and 1.13 blocks per set for the Wildcats with a .350 hitting percentage. She leads the NSIC in solo blocks with 21, ranks third in blocks per set, is 10th in points per set (3.61) and 12th in hitting percentage.
With Winona State driving to set up a game-tying or game-winning possession, the Wayne State College defense was called upon at the end.

An Izaiah Jackson interception with 5:26 remaining in the game built momentum as the Warriors also missed a 46-yard field goal with the wind which sealed a 17-14 victory for the Wildcats over WSU.
WSC improves to 5-1 (4-1 NSIC) and 2-0 in the South Division.
To begin the second half, WSC marched down the field on a 15-play, 75-yard drive that ate up nearly seven minutes of the third quarter and capped off with a one-yard run from Brady McGill.
Akeem Knox averaged 9.2 yards per carry during his 46 yards on six attempts.
Kaden Johnson recorded a team-high 11 tackles (three solo) and a tackle and a half for loss.
As seven conference matches still remain, the Wayne State College women's soccer program was in search for points to remain in the NSIC race.
From the WSC Soccer Complex, the Wildcats did just that starting with a 2-0 win on Oct. 2 over Minot State University and followed on Oct. 4 with a 1-1 draw against University of Mary (tied for second in NSIC).
The Wildcats now sit 4-5-2 overall and 3-3-2 in the NSIC (10th).
Olivia Thompson entered the first match with Minot State with zero goals and left with two and during the draw, it took until the 68th minute for Briella Thompsen to find the back of the net for WSC.
For the third time this season, the Wayne State College women's golf team was showcased on the course, this time in Nebraska.
From the Centura Hills Golf Club in Cairo on Oct. 5-6, WSC fired a 608 (311/297) to finish second overall.
Erica Lee finished second with rounds of 79/70 scoring a 149. Camryn Johnson also tied for third following rounds of 78/72 for a 150.
