Game times were moved up earlier in the day on Tuesday for the Wayne State College beach volleyball road trip a state to the south ahead of Wednesday’s forecasted weather.
From the campus courts in Ottawa, Kansas, WSC competed in the Ottawa Triangular.
The Wayne State College beach volleyball team first won 5-0 over the host Ottawa before securing a 4-1 victory against Park University (MO). Wayne State College has now won eight straight improving to 11-2 on the season.
In the win against Ottawa (KS), the Wildcats also swept the exhibition contest with two of the five matches going all three sets.
Wayne State’s #1 pairing of Ava Spies and Taylor Bunjer rallied for a three-set win by scores of 19-21, 21-16 and 17-15 while the 3’s duo of Molly Romano and Brooklyn Kusler went the distance in posting a 21-18, 14-21 and 15-13 victories.
The other four wins by the Wildcats were recorded in straight sets. The 4’s match went extra points early with Ella Myler and Reese Johnson winning 25-23, 25-19. The #2 pairing of Chloe Hanel and Channatee Robles won 21-18, 21-8 and the 5’s team of Rhianna Wilhelm and Brooke Peltz picked up a 21-15, 21-12 victory. The exhibition match saw Wayne State’s Laney Kathol and Anna Borner register a 21-7, 21-15 win.
During the victory over Park University (MO), the #4 duo of Reese Johnson and Ella Myler went three sets in winning their match 21-17, 22-24, 15-12.
Wayne State’s #1 pairing of Taylor Bunjer and Ava Spies recorded a 21-19, 21-10 win while the 3s team of Brooklyn Kusler and Molly Romano also won in a sweep by scores of 21-19, 21-11.
Two other Wildcat wins were registered by 5s pairing Rhianna Wilhelm and Brooke Peltz 21-15, 21-14 while the exhibition contest saw Anna Borner and Jolee Ryan pick up a 21-13, 21-9 victory.
The number two duo of Chloe Hanel and Channatee Robles suffered losses of 8-21 and 21-23.
The Wayne State College beach volleyball team is next scheduled to host Ottawa (KS) on Saturday, April 5 during a doubleheader pending weather from the WSC Sand Volleyball Courts.
