Jordan McCormick and Isabelle Vacek from the Wayne State beach volleyball team were named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Women’s At-Large Team that recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances in the athletic realm and in the classroom.

Student athletes need to maintain a minimum 3.5 grade-point average and play in at least 50 percent of competition in their respective sport.

McCormick carried a 4.0 GPA majoring in K-6 special education this season. On the court, she teamed with Kelsie Cada as the 2’s pairing for WSC and had a 12-4 record, the most wins by a Wildcat pairing this season. She was named Most Valuable Athlete in beach volleyball with Cada for a second straight season.

Vacek maintained a 4.0 GPA majoring in psychology and human services. This season, she played in the 3’s pairing during the beach season and recorded a 10-6 record with partner Ally Beresford. Vacek earned the NSIC Myles Brand All-Academic With Distinction Award and served on the Student Athlete Advisory Committee two years including acting as Co-President this season.
