WSC cross country competes in South Dakota

Junior Antoine Bardou placed fourth overall while leading Wayne State to a fourth-place team finish in men’s action Saturday at the Herb Blakely/Dakota State Invitational Cross Country Meet in Madison, S.D.
Bardou, a transfer from Indian Hills Community College, came in fourth place overall on the 8,000-meter course with a time of 27:08 to lead the Wildcats.  Sophomore Isaias Solorio was next in 22nd place at 28:16 with senior Corbin Lehn 31st at 29:11.
Other Wayne State runners included Noah Noecker (34th, 29:20), Joey Black (43rd, 29:46), Kak Ayaj (50th, 30:32) and Nathan Pearson (68th, 33:10).
Senior Andrea DeSimone was 13th overall to lead the Wayne State women to a sixth-place finish.
DeSimone, a Plattsmouth graduate, was 13th overall out of 79 runners on the 5,000-meter course with a time of 20:13. The next Wildcat finisher was freshman Jamie Larsen in 22nd place in 20:58.
Other Wildcat runners included – Alexis Oswald (36th, 21:53), Josephine Peitz (40th, 22:00), Mary Alderson (64th, 24:00) and Sarah Post (73rd, 27:31).     
Wayne State will compete again on Saturday, Sept. 24 when the Wildcats travel to St. Paul, Minn., for the Roy Griak Invitational.
