WSC holds on in fifth, eighth double-double by Romano

A third match in the past five NSIC outings went the distance for #7 Wayne State College volleyball.

From Rice Auditorium, WSC hosted Sioux Falls later in the afternoon on Saturday during Hall of Fame weekend (Leisa McClintock-Van Den Top/2015 team were inducted).

After splitting early sets, the Wildcats secured the five-set win (26-24, 20-25, 25-22, 17-25, 15-11).

WSC is now 18-4 (11-2 NSIC) as USF fell to 12-8 (7-5 NSIC).

Molly Romano posted her eighth double-double of the season with 46 assists and 14 digs to go along with three kills and three blocks. Brooklyn Kusler recorded 21 kills, three blocks and one dig; Taya Beller followed with 17 kills, five digs and four blocks (one solo) as Brooke Peltz led WSC in digs with 25.

Channatee Robles added eight kills, 15 digs and one block; Maggie Brahmer tallied six kills and nine blocks (two solo); Laney Kathol tacked on two kills and a block as Taylor Bunjer had one kill, two digs and four blocks. Other digs came from Anna Borner (seven), Allie Petry (four) and Rhianna Wilhelm (one).

Romano finished with three service aces, Borner added two aces as Kusler and Robles both had an ace.

Sioux Falls held a slight advantage in the hit department, .204 to .196. WSC won the block category (14-6).
