WSC seeded fourth for NSIC volleyball tournament

The Wayne State volleyball team has earned the No. 4 seed for the 2021 NSIC Volleyball Tournament that begins Thursday at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, S.D.

The Wildcats, ranked 15th in this week’s AVCA Div. II Top 25 Coaches Poll, are 21-7 overall and fourth place in the NSIC with a 14-6 league mark and will face fifth-seed Northern State (18-10, 13-7) in the opening round of the tournament Thursday at 5 p.m.

The two teams met once this season with Wayne State prevailing 25-18, 25-19, 25-17 in Wayne on Oct. 8.

St. Cloud State won the NSIC regular season title and will face No. 8 seed Southwest Minnesota State Thursday at 7:30 p.m.

Other first-round matchups include No. 2 seed Winona State battling No. 7 seed Upper Iowa at 12 p.m. and third-seed Concordia-St. Paul taking on No. 6 Augustana at 2:30 p.m.

Semifinals are set for Friday at 4:30 and 7 p.m. with the championship match set for Saturday at 3 p.m.

5 p.m. — No 4 Wayne State vs. No. 5 Northern State
7:30 p.m. — No. 1 St. Cloud State vs. No. 8 SW Minnesota State
