The 2019 Wayne State College softball team, along with eight players, received Easton/NFCA Academic Honors by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association office in Louisville, Ky.

To be eligible for the team academic award, an institution must maintain a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher while individuals must maintain a 3.5 grade point average to receive academic honors.

The list includes freshmen Kortney Buresh, Michaela Smith and Kim Vidlak; sophomores Ashley Hernandez and Maddie Moser; and seniors Abbie Hix, Riley Vanderveen and Morgan Vasa.

Wayne State was one of five Northern Sun Conference schools and 87 in NCAA Div. II to earn the team academic award. Individually, eight players received the Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar Athlete honor.
