A fourth regular season conference title is back in Wayne and now marks the third time in the past four seasons that #3 Wayne State College won the NSIC regular sesason.
From Rice Auditorium, WSC began the weekend with their 15th sweep of the year winning 25-20, 25-11, 25-21 over Jamestown (ND) on Nov. 14 followed by a four-set victory against RV Northern State (25-17, 23-25, 25-19, 25-12) on Nov. 15.
The Wildcats (26-3/19-1 NSIC) earned a share of the NSIC title (Concordia-St. Paul). WSC has now won 13 straight matches.
In the win over Jamestown, junior Channatee Robles recorded a double-double with 11 kills and 12 digs to go along with three blocks while NSIC Freshman of the Year Delaney Miller led WSC with 17 kills (one block, one dig).
Sophomore Molly Romano finished with 38 assists, nine digs, two kills and a team-high three service aces.
Freshman Mattie Kamery posted a team-high 14 digs to go along with seven kills and two blocks. Sophomore Anna Borner added 13 digs.
Junior Laney Kathol controlled the net with six blocks (one solo) to go along with six kills as sophomore Chloe Hanel tallied four kills and two blocks (one solo).
WSC recorded a .288 attack percentage while Jamestown finished with a .145 hitting percentage.
During the victory against Northern State, it marked another double-double for Robles with 15 kills and 16 digs to go along with two blocks as Romano (nine kills) was a kill away from a triple-double finishing with 50 assists and 10 digs to go along with three blocks.
Miller recorded a team-high 23 kills (three digs, two blocks/one solo) as Kamery (three kills, three blocks) collected a team-high 17 digs.
Hanel added 11 kills, six digs and three blocks, Kathol totaled four kills and six blocks.
Other dig leaders were Borner with 14 (team-high three service aces) and redshirt junior transfer (Northern State) Reese Johnson with 12.
The Wildcats hit .344 in the match while Northern State posted a .189 attack percentage.
The Wildcats earned the second seed in the NSIC Tournament (lost tie breaker on strength of schedule) and will host seventh-seeded Northern State for the second consecutive match in the NSIC Tournament quarterfinals on Tuesday, November 18 at 6 p.m. at Rice Auditorium.
