All 15 Wayne State College sports recorded a semester and cumulative grade point average over 3.00 for the 2024-25 academic calendar.
According to a release from Wayne State Athletics, student-athletes continued their academic excellence during the 2024-25 school year as the Wildcat athletic department ended the recently completed academic year with a cumulative grade point average of 3.458.
In total, 71 student-athletes maintained a perfect 4.00 grade point average during the recently completed spring 2025 semester.
This season, Wayne State saw 278 student athletes earn Edward Jones Presidential Scholar Athlete honors, 155 were named to the NSIC All-Academic Teams and 17 received the NSIC Myles Brand All-Academic With Distinction Award.
Three Wildcat student-athletes earned the NSIC Elite 18 Award as the top scholar athlete in his/her respective sport at a conference championship event. They were Quentin Dreyer in men's indoor track and field, Abbigail Brodersen in women's golf and Nate Cunningham was a repeat winner in baseball.
WSC also had 37 athletes named College Sports Communicators Academic All-District with volleyball player Taya Beller named Academic All-American for the third straight season.
The top grade point average for Wildcat women's teams was basketball at 3.806 followed by golf with a 3.736. Volleyball and beach volleyball each recorded grade point averages of 3.556 with soccer next at 3.501. Rounding out women's sports were outdoor track and field (3.477), indoor track and field (3.458), cross country (3.429) and softball with a 3.422.
Men's sports were led by baseball at 3.460 followed by cross country at 3.440. Indoor and outdoor track and field teams both posted grade point averages of 3.354 with men's basketball next at 3.347 and football producing a team grade point average of 3.094 for the 2024-25 school year.
