WSC sweeps Northern State

Saturday afternoon marked a top 25 showdown between two NSIC teams.

From Wachs Arena in Aberdeen, South Dakota, #8 Wayne State College visited #24 Northern State University.

The Wildcats handed NSU their first loss of the season thanks to a 3-0 sweep. WSC is now 8-2 (2-0 NSIC) while Northern State fell to 9-1 (1-1 NSIC).

Scores of the match favored the Wildcats 25-19, 25-19, 25-18.

Brooklyn Kusler recorded 11 kills, seven digs and one block; Molly Romano posted 32 assists and five digs to go along with one block as Brooke Peltz led WSC in digs with 26.

Taya Beller also had double figure kills with 10 along with two digs and three blocks (one solo).

Maggie Brahmer added nine kills, one dig and four blocks (one solo) as Channatee Robles followed with eight kills, nine digs and a block. Other digs came from Jodie Nekl (nine), Taylor Bunjer had two blocks (three digs) and Anna Borner (two).

Peltz and Beller both finished with three service aces; Kusler followed with two aces as Romano had an ace.

WSC held a slight advantage in hitting over Northern State, .211 to .121. The Wildcats also won points (54-45), kills (39-37), aces (9-3) and blocks (7-5).
