WSC volleyball in regional rankings

The Wayne State volleyball team is one of 10 under consideration in the first NCAA Div. II Central Region Volleyball Rankings announced Wednesday.

New this year for NCAA Div. II sports with regional rankings is that schools will be listed as under consideration in alphabetical order for the first ranking of the season.

Wayne State is one of five NSIC schools listed in the rankings with a 23-1 NCAA record as of Monday, Oct. 24. The Central Region is comprised of 39 teams from the Northern Sun Conference, Great American Conference and Mid America Athletic Association, with the three conference tournament champions and five highest non-championship teams advancing to the NCAA Div. II national tournament.

The NCAA selection show is set for Sunday, Nov. 13 at 9 p.m. on ncaa.com.

Wayne State improved to 25-1 on the season Tuesday evening with a 3-0 sweep over Augustana. The Wildcats, ranked No. 3 in this week’s AVCA Div. II Top 25 Coaches Poll, will be at home Friday against Winona State at 6 p.m. and host Upper Iowa Saturday at 3 p.m.
