A second straight home outing was on the docket for the Wayne State College women's basketball team in late November (Nov. 25).
From Rice Auditorium, WSC took the lead for good in the final 4:17 of the second overtime against Augustana University on Nov. 25.
The Wildcats (5-0, 1-0 NSIC) won 78-76 while playing an entire extra quarter (two, five-minute OTs).
Career high performances were netted by seniors Rachel Dahlen (28 pts, 13 rebs.) and Kylah vanDonkersgoed (26 pts). Dahlen finished 13-14 at the foul line.
Sophomore transfer Ella Sharar (Ellsworth Community College) also scored the final seven points in the second overtime.
Over the weekend on Nov. 22, WSC won 95-53 over Chardron State.
Double figure scoring leaders were Dahlen with 15 points, graduate transfer (Idaho State) Tenleigh Smith added 12 points, redshirt junior transfer (Augustana) Kelsey Willems tallied 11 points and vanDonkersgoed tacked on 10 points.
All 13 players who saw action on the court scored.
The Wayne State College women will next join their men's program on Nov. 29 at Nebraska-Kearney at 2 p.m. (men follow at 4 p.m.).
Other upcoming games for the WSC women include home against Hesston College (KS) on Dec. 1 at 5 p.m. (men follow at 7 p.m.) along with NSIC foe Sioux Falls in town on Dec. 3 at 7:30 p.m. (men open at 5:30 p.m.).
