The Wayne State cross country teams ran well Saturday in the Briar Cliff Invitational, held at the Adams Nature Preserve in McCook Lake, S.D.
In women’s action Molly McCartney recorded a 26th place finish to lead the Wildcats, who finished ninth out of 13 teams with a team score of 264 points. Her time was 20:26 in the 162-woman race.
Other Wildcat runners were Kim Lowman (66th, 22:03), Brianna Crouch (96th, 22:52), Josephine Peitz (113th, 23:26), Sabrina Sack (130th, 24:09) and Mary Alderson (146th, 26:17).
In men’s action, Antoine Bardou placed eighth to lead the Wayne State men to a sixth-place finish with 160 points.
Bardou covered the 8,000-meter course in a time of 26:17 to lead the Wildcats, while Jack Doughty was 28th at 27:14 and Isaias Solorio finished right behind in 32nd at 27:25.
Also running were Brock Hegarty (54th, 28:12), Nathan Pearson (82nd, 29:07), Bailey Peckhan (92nd, 29:20) and Nathan Hiemer (130th, 31:38).
The next meet for Wayne State College will be Saturday, Oct. 21 at the Northern Sun Conference Championships in Glyndon, Minn., hosted by MSU Moorhead.
