WSC women's golf concludes season at regional championships

Following a 24-hour delay due to weather, the Wayne State College women's golf team closed out their NCAA Regional competition on May 7.

From Kickingbird Golf Course in Edmond, OK, the Wildcats were seeded 15th entering their first-ever trip to the NCAA Central Region Championships.

WSC posted a final score of 304 to add to their rounds of 298 and 300 both on Monday, May 5.

The Wildcats finished 16th with a 902, which was a 17-shot improvement compared to the NSIC Championships held about two weeks ago.

Central Missouri finished with rounds of 285/273/287 to win the NCAA Central Regional with an 845. Henderson State followed in second with an 857 (287/282/288) as Arkansas Tech placed third with an 865 (293/281/291).

The top NSIC team was Minnesota State-Mankato in 11th with an 890 (290/300/300).

Ali Perry from Arkansas-Fort Smith (72/66/71) won a playoff over Maya McVey from Central Missouri (70/68/71) after both shot a 54-hole score of 209. There were 93 golfers who completed all three rounds.

Sophomore Erica Lee tied for 41st overall to lead Wayne State College women's golf in their final meet of the season with a 222 shooting rounds of 73/74/75 as freshmen Camryn Johnson (74/77/75) and Gaia Stancikova (75/72/79) both followed in a tie for 53rd with a 226..

Other Wildcat results came from senior Abbigail Brodersen (t-65th - 78/77/75) and junior Saffire Sayre (t-84th - 76/78/83).
