Following three days and a total of 54 holes played, the Wayne State College women's golf team kept up with the top teams in the NSIC.
From Paradise Pointe Golf Club in Smithville, Missouri, the NSIC Women's Golf Championships were held Friday, April 25 - Sunday, April 27.
Wayne State College finished third with rounds of 316, 312 and 315 to total a 943 among the 12 teams in action.
Minnesota State-Mankato (300/305/316) was crowned team champion with a 921, 11 strokes better than runner-up Augustana (314/309/309).
Sioux Falls (958) claimed fourth as Winona State University rounded out the top five teams with a 964.
Emerson Garlie from Minnesota State-Mankato fired a two-over PAR 218 to win the individual portion of the NSIC Championships following rounds of 72, 73 and 73 among the field of 66 golfers.
Freshman Gaia Stancikova from WSC just missed the top five NSIC All-Tournament team following a sixth place finish (78/75/79) totaling a 232; junior Saffire Sayre (78/81/77) took ninth with a 236 and sophomore Erica Lee (79/81/78) tied for 10th with a 238 three-day score.
Other Wildcat results came from freshman Camryn Johnson (81/75/83) tying for 12th with a 239 as senior Abbigail Brodersen (86/81/81) tied for 32nd with a 248.
The Wayne State College women's golf team sits 17th in the final NCAA Division II Central Region Women's Golf Rankings. WSC will await a bid to the NCAA Division II National Tournament with the selections scheduled to be announced Monday afternoon by the NCAA office.
