Central Region cross country action took over the weekend for Wayne State College.
From the Tom Rutledge Cross Country Course in Joplin, Missouri, WSC competed in the NCAA Central Region Championships on Saturday.
The Wayne State College women finished 29th with 837 points while the Wildcat men took 26th with 721 points.
In the women’s division, Augustana held of Pittsburg State (82-110), University of Mary took third (116), Winona State placed fourth (130) and Rogers State rounded out the top five teams with 137 points.
The Wayne State College women were led by Allie Czapla in 150th in a time of 24:16.13 followed by Sydney Escritt in 160th (24:36.66).
Other results came from Kaitlyn Bloomenrader (167th – 24:43.38), Madeline Kunz (178th – 25:02.37), Nikola Prochazkova (201st – 26:29.66), Maelee Beacom (211th – 27:15.54) while Jozlyn Barnes did not finish.
Alyssa Becker from University of Mary won the women’s 6,000-meter race in a time of 20:20.20 among the 219 runners who recorded a time.
During the men’s division, East Central edged Northwest Missouri State (71-76), Pittsburg State took third (103), Washburn placed fourth (175) and Nebraska-Kearney rounded out the top five teams with 176 points.
The Wayne State College men were led by Quentin Dreyer in 110th during a time of 33:03.83 followed by Ethan Walters in 126th (33:28.25).
Other results came from Brody Lucas (145th – 33:55.02), Brady Franzen (164th – 34:29.99), Akron Jostand (176th – 34:52.72), Brandon Mitzel (179th – 34:56.81) and Andrew Wyllie (198th – 35:50.52).
Ryan Hartman from Augustana won the men’s 10,000-meter race in a time of 30:07.99 among the 210 runners who recorded a time.
