For the sixth time in three months, the Wayne State College women's and men's cross country program took to the course during their final event of the season.
From the Tom Rutledge Cross Country Course in Joplin, MO on Nov. 8 during the NCAA DII Central Regional, the Wildcat women finished 27th with 793 points (35 teams) while the WSC men placed 26th with 714 points (30 teams).
In the women's race, Winona State University of the NSIC held of MIAA representative Pittsburg State (99-113) to win the Central Region.
Sophomore Allie Czapla (142nd - 23:57.7), senior Sydney Escritt (144th - 24:01.44) and junior Callie Kirchner (146th - 24:04.5) were all under eight seconds from each other to lead the WSC women.
Other results were posted by senior Madeline Kunz (182nd - 25:17.41), sophomore Kaitlyn Bloomenrader (191st - 25:41.68), senior Maelee Beacom (194th - 25:46.67) and Wayne native (Pender HS) freshman Kyla Krusemark (199th - 25:56.2).
Emily McCullough from Fort Hays State won the women's 6k in 20:32.59 among the 235 runners.
During the men's division, Northwest Missouri State of the MIAA won over conference foe Washburn (72-104) to win the Central Region.
Top WSC men's runners were freshman Lucas Frazier in 116th (33:40.26) and senior Brody Lucas placing 122nd (33:53.27).
Other results came from junior Brady Frenzen (150th - 34:36.3), sophomore William Keller (155th - 34:42.6), freshman Jacob Greving (171st - 35:19.59), freshman Drew Martin (190th - 36:31.06) and freshman Matt Richardson (36:53.27).
Aziz Mohammed from Northwest Missouri State won the 10k race in 29:53.48 among the 202 runners.
