F&M Bank supports community partnership

Thirteen years ago, F&M Bank was one of the original supporters kicking off the campaign to bring a movie theatre experience back to Wayne.

Last week, F&M donated $10,000 to The Majestic Theatre’s Community Partnership Campaign. This Oscar level donation will go toward the $130,000 needed for upgrades to the historic theatre.

“Our building and equipment are close to 15 years old, and it is time for significant repairs and upgrades,” said Jill Brodersen, Majestic Board Chairman at the check presentation.

It was a community effort renovating The Majestic Theatre 13 years ago with a state-of-the-art sound and projection system, with all new interiors.  Thousands of volunteer hours and hundreds of thousands of dollars in donations made the process possible.

The non-for-profit community theatre works to keep tickets at five dollars and regularly hosts schools and special events.

“The theatre has a lot of different uses, and it is important for us to keep it in the community.  When we met with the theatre board about the capital campaign and raising funds for improvements, we knew we wanted to be a part of the campaign,” said Matt Jones, Market President F&M Bank in Wayne.  “We are honored to give a donation to the Majestic Theatre and look forward to these improvements over the next year”.

The Majestic is a 501c-3, non-profit organization – therefore the Majestic board and Coordinator Jason Barelman work to serve the community and bring diverse entertainment and flexible space at affordable prices.

The goal of the Community Partnership Campaign is to raise $130,000 that will go toward projection and sound technology updates, building maintenance – including roof and gutter repairs, and updated concessions equipment needs and signage repairs.

“The community and volunteers are very supportive of The Majestic,” said Barelman at the recent check presentation, “it is amazing how the community appreciates the opportunity to attend movies and have a quality experience.”

Anyone interested in giving to the Community Partnership Campaign for the Majestic can bring a donation to the theatre on Main Street or drop it off at the offices of Tom Hansen Accounting.
